Accra, April 8, – The Ghana Police Service has arrested Prophet William Gyimah for allegedly issuing death threats against Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in a viral video circulating on social media.
The 49-year-old, who is the General Overseer of Elohim International Ministry, was picked up on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Kasoa in the Central Region during a targeted security operation.
According to a police brief, the arrest was executed by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) after the Service intercepted a video on platforms including TikTok, in which the suspect allegedly made the threats.
The statement said Prophet Gyimah has since been transferred to the Special Investigations Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Police Administration also issued a strong warning to the public and media organisations, urging them to avoid using their platforms to spread content that could incite unrest or threaten national security.
“The Police Administration wishes to strongly caution the public and media houses against using their platforms to foment trouble or disseminate content that threatens the peace and security of the State,” the brief stated.
