Accra, April 23, - Newly appointed Black Stars head coach, Carlos Queiroz, says guiding Ghana to the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the most demanding task of his managerial career, but insists he is fully prepared for the challenge.
The seasoned tactician, who has signed a short-term four-month deal, made the remarks during his official unveiling at a press briefing in Accra.
He expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received upon arrival, describing it as a reflection of the deep passion Ghanaians have for their national team.
“I am grateful to the federation, the board and the government for this opportunity. This is a defining moment in my career, and I am ready to give my all to Ghana,” he said.
The former Real Madrid and Portugal coach emphasised the need for collective effort, stressing that success would depend on strong unity among players, technical staff and supporters.
“We must work together with one spirit. With the right attitude and support, we can build something special for this country,” he added.
Queiroz also expressed optimism about the quality within the Black Stars setup, noting that Ghana possesses the talent required to compete at the highest level.
“I have seen enough to believe in the potential here. If we play with discipline and teamwork, we can compete against any side,” he said.
He is expected to announce his squad soon ahead of upcoming international friendlies as part of preparations for the global showpiece.
The Ghana Football Association confirmed that former Black Stars players John Paintsil and Fatau Dauda would continue in their roles as assistant coaches.
