Accra, April 21, – The Ghana Education Service (GES) has made available funds to support the purchase of perishable food items for Senior High and Technical Schools across the country.
The move comes in response to growing concerns about food supply in second-cycle institutions, following warnings by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) over possible disruptions.
In a statement signed by Mr Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, the Service indicated that the release of the funds was aimed at stabilising feeding arrangements and ensuring continuity of academic work.
It said steps had already been activated to channel the funds to the schools without delay to address immediate needs.
The statement acknowledged earlier engagements between education stakeholders and the Minister for Education, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, which sought to resolve the situation but did not yield a consensus.
GES emphasised that strict monitoring systems would guide the utilisation of the funds to ensure they were used solely for their intended purpose.
It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining effective school operations and protecting the well-being of students nationwide.
