Adidome (V/R), April 7, – Mr Guggisberg Fiagbenu, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Central Tongu Constituency, has declared his intention to contest for the position of Constituency Chairman ahead of the party’s upcoming executive elections.
Mr Fiagbenu, who is currently the Polling Station Chairman for the Community School Polling Station at Kpogede and Assembly Member for the Adidome Central Electoral Area, announced his decision in anticipation of the opening of nominations in July this year.
He traced his political journey from an ordinary party member to Polling Station Youth Organiser, and later Chairman of the Assemblies of God Polling Station in Adidome.
He recalled his previous attempt at the chairmanship race in 2022, noting that although unsuccessful, the experience strengthened his resolve and deepened his commitment to the growth of the party in the constituency.
Mr Fiagbenu outlined a vision anchored on strengthening party structures, promoting unity, and expanding the party’s electoral fortunes in Central Tongu.
He said he would work closely with party stakeholders to establish a permanent constituency office to improve coordination and administration of party activities.
On welfare, he stressed the need for a structured support system for members, particularly during periods of illness and bereavement. He cited his personal record of assisting members with hospital bills, funeral arrangements and financial support as evidence of his commitment to the cause.
He also pledged to enhance recognition and support for families of party members who lost their lives or sustained injuries during the 2016 constituency campaign launch at Kpedzeglo.
Touching on party unity, Mr Fiagbenu underscored the importance of inclusiveness and collective effort, saying cohesion within the ranks would be critical to achieving electoral success.
He expressed his determination to make the party more attractive to constituents, increase voter support and ultimately secure the constituency’s first NPP parliamentary seat.
Looking ahead to the 2028 general elections, Mr Fiagbenu expressed optimism about the party’s chances and pledged to advocate employment opportunities for members when the NPP returns to government, noting that such efforts would also sustain the proposed welfare scheme.
He appealed to delegates and party members to support his candidature, assuring them of dedicated service and a renewed drive to advance the party’s prospects in the constituency.
