Mahama, Macron Lead Global Push for ‘One Health’ Reforms at Lyon Summit

Accra, April 07, – President John Dramani Mahama, founder of the Accra Reset Initiative, is co-chairing the high-level segment of the global One Health Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron in Lyon, France.

The summit brings together world leaders, health ministers and global health experts to advance coordinated solutions aimed at strengthening health systems, promoting sustainable food production, and addressing emerging global health threats.

A statement from the Presidency said President Mahama is expected to deliver two keynote addresses during the summit.

The first will be delivered at a session on global health architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and the Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The session will focus on reforms to global health initiatives and the endorsement of a political declaration on international health cooperation.

His second keynote will open the high-level segment for heads of state and government, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s vision and commitments on global health security, with emphasis on cross-sector collaboration to address emerging health challenges.

The One Health approach links human, animal and environmental health in a unified framework for preventing and managing global health risks.
