Asiedu Nketiah pushes for completion of Afari Military Hospital

Abuakwa (Ash), April 16, – Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged government to prioritise the completion of the Afari Military Hospital to serve the healthcare needs of residents in the Ashanti Region.

He said failure to complete the project in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality would be more damaging to the NDC than the New Patriotic Party (NPP), given that the facility was initiated under a previous NDC administration.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah made the call in response to an appeal by Oheneba Kwame Akoto, the Nkawie-Kumahene, for government support to complete the hospital.

Addressing party members and residents at Abuakwa, he noted that it was appropriate for the current NDC government to see the project through to completion.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah is on the second phase of his “thank you” tour of the Ashanti Region to express appreciation to chiefs and residents for their support in the 2024 general elections.

He stated that abandoning the project would undermine government’s vision of improving access to quality healthcare across the country.

He indicated that steps were being taken to fast-track the completion of the hospital.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah assured the chiefs and people of government’s commitment to complete the facility and other ongoing projects as part of its development agenda.

He said government had directed Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to establish legacy funds from their revenue sources to support accelerated rural development.

“We need to provide the needed development in order to get the confidence to ask for more in 2028,” he said.

Mr Wisdom Osei Boamah, the Municipal Chief Executive, said efforts were underway to reshape roads in the area and appealed to government support to asphalt them.

He noted that improving the road network would enhance social, health and economic activities in the municipality.
