Asiedu Nketia Vows Continuity: Gov’t to Complete All Inherited Projects

Adankwame (Ash), April 2, – Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to complete all ongoing projects initiated by previous administrations.

He said projects funded with taxpayers’ money must be completed and put to use for the benefit of citizens, stressing that while governments may change, the needs and obligations of the people remain constant.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah made the remarks during a “thank you” tour of the Ashanti Region, where he addressed chiefs and residents of Adankwame, near Barekese, in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District.

He expressed concern over the abandonment of development projects due to political transitions, describing the situation as a waste of public resources that must be avoided.

The NDC Chairman urged party supporters to remain calm as the Government works to address national concerns, assuring that policies would be implemented fairly and without discrimination.

He stated that Ghanaians voted for the NDC based on concerns about governance under the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, particularly regarding issues of favouritism and unequal access to opportunities.

Mr Asiedu Nketiah said the Government would prioritise fairness in the distribution of national resources and eliminate biases linked to political affiliation or social background.

He also commended residents for increasing the NDC’s electoral performance in the region to about 35 per cent, above its traditional range of 25 to 27 per cent in previous presidential elections.

The Chairman called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to utilise their common funds to execute legacy projects, noting that 80 per cent of the funds had already been disbursed.

Mr Mba Zechariah Alenbilla, District Chief Executive, highlighted ongoing development projects in communities such as Asamang, Barekese, Asuofua and Adankwame, including road construction, school infrastructure, health facilities, boreholes and sanitation initiatives.

He appealed for unity and cooperation among stakeholders to accelerate development in the district.

Mr Patrick Kojo Wassaw, Constituency Vice Chairman, urged the Government to fulfil its campaign promises to sustain public trust, noting that the NDC’s electoral victory in 2024 was largely driven by confidence in its manifesto.
