Action Alliance Party Launched to Break NDC–NPP Dominance

Wa (UW/R), March 30, – A new political party, the Action Alliance Party (AAP), has been launched with a bold ambition to disrupt the long-standing dominance of Ghana’s two major parties and offer a people-centred alternative focused on jobs, youth empowerment, and anti-corruption.

Speaking at the launch in Wa, founder Mr. Namuru Tahiru said the AAP was formed out of the need for a political platform that prioritises the welfare of citizens through inclusivity, accountability, and service.

He expressed confidence that the party could “break the duopoly” of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 general elections, pledging decisive action against corruption and a renewed focus on job creation.

“AAP is ready to confront corruption head-on and create opportunities for Ghanaians,” he said.

The party’s symbol, a tractor, underscores its commitment to agriculture as a key driver of economic transformation. Mr. Tahiru outlined plans to improve irrigation, reduce input costs, and expand market access to boost the sector.

The launch doubled as the party’s maiden congress, where national executives were elected. Mr. Nazir Abdul-Rahaman Darlington was elected National Chairperson to lead the party into the 2028 elections.

Mr. Darlington reaffirmed the party’s vision to restore hope and transform governance, stressing that leadership must serve the people, promote dignity and opportunity, and take bold steps to address unemployment and economic hardship.

Officials of the Electoral Commission supervised the elections, while oaths of office were administered to the newly elected executives.
