Abuakwa (Ash), March 12, – Nicholas Adomako Baafi, 27, who is unemployed, has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court for his role in robbing a hunter in Ahwiaa, near Nkawie, in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District.
Baafi pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted based on his own plea by Mrs Philomena Asiedu, the presiding judge.
According to Police Chief Inspector Evans Ayimbisa, the prosecutor, both Baafi and the victim, Samuel Kwaku-sei, a hunter, resided in Ahwiaa.
On February 21, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m., Baafi and five accomplices, armed with cutlasses, forced entry into the complainant’s room, tied him with a rope, assaulted him, and stole an Itel mobile phone valued at GHC 250, two long-barrel guns worth GHC 2,000, and GHC 14,000 in cash.
The victim sought medical attention at the Bankyease CHIPS Compound before reporting the crime to the police.
Baafi was apprehended on February 22, 2026. In his caution statement, he admitted spending GHC 1,200 of his GHC 2,000 share of the stolen cash and led the police to a nearby bush where the stolen guns were hidden. Only the cutlasses used in the robbery were recovered. He also demonstrated to authorities the method used to carry out the robbery.
Following the investigations, Baafi was charged, tried, and convicted, resulting in his 15-year jail sentence.
