President Mahama to review progress of educational facilities at SUSEC

Sunyani, Bono, March 14, – President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to visit Sunyani Senior High School (SUSEC) on Thursday, March 19, 2026, to inspect ongoing educational infrastructure projects, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, has announced.

The Minister made the disclosure during the installation of the Diocesan President and induction of new executives of the Mothers’ Union of the Sunyani Anglican Diocese, held at St. Anselm Cathedral in Sunyani on Saturday.

Mr Ibrahim noted that the President’s visit would provide an opportunity to assess the progress of government-led construction works at the school. He also lauded faith-based organisations for their contributions to national development.

The Right Reverend Dr Festus Yeboah Asuamah, Anglican Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese, charged the newly inducted executives to work diligently to realise the vision of the Mothers’ Union.

Mother Belinda Serwaa Addo, the newly elected President of the Union, thanked the Bishop and the diocese for their confidence in her team. She will lead the seven-member executive to establish new branches within the diocese, promote girl-child education, extend educational support to vulnerable groups, and provide skills training to economically empower women. The group also plans to partner with NGOs and civil society actors to positively impact communities.

A visit to SUSEC, showed that construction work on the education projects was progressing steadily.

Mr Gordon Osei Marfo, Headmaster of SUSEC, said that the ongoing projects include two two-storey dormitory blocks for boys and girls, a two-storey science laboratory block, two two-storey semi-detached staff flats, and two 12-unit toilet facilities.

He commended the government for the investments and appealed for additional tables and chairs for the new dining hall, dormitory beds, and student desks.
