Accra, March 12, – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched an online membership registration initiative aimed at enrolling up to one million members as part of efforts to strengthen internal party organization.
According to party officials, about 185,000 people had registered through the online platform in the first week of the drive, which runs from 1st to 31st March 2026.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Mr Justin Koduah Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP, explained that the digital system was designed to help Ghanaians who face challenges registering at polling stations due to time constraints.
The registration platform covers three categories: citizens already registered to vote, those not yet registered, and party members residing abroad. He added that applicants who complete online registration and pay the required dues will receive a temporary digital membership card, but must visit a polling station to obtain their permanent card.
The physical registration component will take place across 276 constituencies and over 40,000 polling stations on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, between 14th and 31st March.
Polling station executives are required to be present during the exercise, except in cases of unavoidable commitments such as farming or traditional observances.
Mr Frimpong reassured party members that measures have been put in place to ensure that only legitimate members can vote or stand for positions in internal elections. He also emphasized that the online platform would prevent unauthorized individuals or opponents from infiltrating the membership register.
