Ghana Consulate in New York celebrates Mawuko Kuadzi’s Artios Awards success

Accra, March 12, – Ghana’s diplomatic mission in New York has honoured renowned casting director Mawuko Kuadzi after his historic back-to-back victories at the Artios Awards, during a courtesy visit to the Ghana Consulate.

Mr Kuadzi, who recently secured Best International Feature at the 41st Artios Awards, presented the prestigious trophy to Mr John Caleb Amoah, Ghana’s Consul General in New York, in recognition of the support the mission has shown to Ghanaians excelling internationally.

The recognition follows the awards ceremony held at The Edison Ballroom, where the Ghanaian filmmaker emerged winner in a highly competitive category against nominees from Asia and Europe.

A statement copied to the press noted that the Artios Awards, organised annually by the Casting Society of America, honour outstanding achievements in casting across film, television, theatre and commercial productions worldwide.

According to the statement, Mr Kuadzi’s latest win marks his second consecutive triumph at the global ceremony. In 2025, he became the first African to win an Artios Award in more than four decades when he received the Best Casting for a Commercial accolade.

His 2026 win, earned for his casting work on the film The Fisherman, further highlights Ghana’s rising influence in the global creative industry.

During the meeting, Mr Kuadzi expressed appreciation to the Ghana Mission for its continued encouragement of Ghanaian professionals abroad.

“I am grateful for the support and recognition from the Ghana Consulate,” he said. “It is reassuring to know that wherever we are in the world, Ghana remains proud of citizens who represent the nation positively.”

Mr Amoah described the achievement as a significant moment for both Ghana and Africa, noting that success on such a global platform reflected the growing impact of Ghanaian talent internationally.

“We had hoped to attend the awards ceremony to support him,” he said. “Although official commitments prevented that, it was important for us to receive him here and celebrate this remarkable accomplishment.”

He added that Mr Kuadzi’s achievement extended beyond personal recognition.

“When a Ghanaian attains such distinction globally, it becomes a victory for the entire country. We are proud that he competed with leading professionals from other continents and is bringing the honour home to Ghana.”

The Consul General also assured the filmmaker of the mission’s continued support and assistance as he prepares to return to Ghana.

Responding, Mr Kuadzi reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Ghana and Africa through his work in the creative industry.

“I am honoured by this recognition and will continue to represent Ghana and the African continent with pride wherever my work takes me,” he said.

His successive wins at the Artios Awards have drawn praise from industry stakeholders across Ghana and the African creative community, with many describing the milestone as a boost for African storytelling and global representation.

As he prepares to present the award to authorities in Ghana, the achievement is widely regarded as a major boost for Ghana’s creative sector and a sign of increasing international recognition for African talent.
