Accra, March 10, – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus in Parliament playfully cautioned Alhaji Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed to be wary of his own Majority National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus during his inauguration as MP for Ayawaso East.
First Deputy Minority Chief Whip Habib Iddrisu alleged that some Majority members had signed a petition questioning confidence in Baba Jamal’s victory, reminding him that Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia was his only friend within the NDC.
Responding, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga dismissed the claims and welcomed Baba Jamal, praising his legal expertise and the boost it brings to the Majority’s parliamentary capacity.
The swearing-in followed the March 3, 2026, by-election, where Baba Jamal secured 10,884 votes, defeating four other candidates.
