Accra, March 10, – Alhaji Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been sworn in as Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East following his by-election victory on March 3, 2026, where he secured 10,884 votes.
Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin administered the Oaths of Allegiance and Office and provided Baba Jamal with copies of the 1992 Constitution and revised Standing Orders. The Speaker reminded him of his accountability to his constituents.
With this swearing-in, the NDC maintains 185 seats in Parliament, while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) holds 87 seats, alongside four independents aligned with the Majority.
Baba Jamal previously served as MP for Akwatia (2013–2017).
