Ex-Asokore-Mampong MCE, eight others secure GH¢800,000 bail in public land case

Kumasi, March 1, – A High Court in Kumasi has admitted nine accused persons to bail in an ongoing criminal trial concerning the alleged unauthorized disposal of government land earmarked for a health facility.

The accused include former Asokore-Mampong Municipal Chief Executive Alhaji Alidu Seidu and former assembly officials who allegedly played roles in the transaction. Prosecutors contend that a 10.54-acre tract at Buoban, originally reserved for a community hospital, was unlawfully transferred through manipulated documentation.

Also before the court are Abigail Agyemang Boateng (former Physical Planning Officer), Henry Acquah (former Principal Technical Officer), and Solomon Kwakye (former Senior Technical Officer), together with Ibrahim Osman, Abubakar Wazir Ayuba, Mohammed Salisu, Mallam Ismail Umar, and Abdul Wahab Mohammed.

The state alleges coordinated falsification of land records, fraudulent breach of trust, unlawful occupation of public property, and possession of forged documents, among other offences. In total, the accused are facing 12 separate counts.

The court set bail at GH¢800,000 for each defendant, with three sureties required. Two of those sureties must be justified with verifiable landed property. Despite the ruling, the accused remained in custody at the time of reporting, having yet to fulfil the bail terms.

In a related development, bench warrants have been issued for two additional suspects — Brima Fredua Agyemang II and Kofi Nti Buoban Odikro — who failed to present themselves before the court.

Proceedings have been adjourned to March 12, 2026.
