Dzodze (V/R), March 23,– Mr Kwame Asare Obeng, Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, popularly known as A-Plus, has urged communities to deepen local partnerships and youth-led initiatives as a strategy for accelerating economic growth and national development.
Addressing participants at the Ketu North Scholars Award ceremony in Dzodze, he encouraged Ghanaians to rethink the concept of exchange programmes by focusing more on local collaboration rather than foreign opportunities.
“Exchange programmes should not always mean travelling abroad. We can create opportunities right here in Ghana by sharing ideas, building businesses together, and growing wealth collectively,” he stated.
Mr Obeng explained that stronger inter-community collaboration would allow regions to leverage their comparative advantages, particularly by situating industries closer to raw materials to enhance productivity and sustainability.
He further shared his vision of transforming Gomoa Central into a modern, industrialised hub, adding that similar models could be replicated nationwide through strategic partnerships and private sector participation.
On governance, the MP underscored the need for continuity in political leadership, noting that experienced legislators were better positioned to influence national policy and deliver results for their constituencies.
“Being an MP comes with a learning curve. Supporting your representative to grow and gain influence ultimately benefits the entire constituency,” he said.
Mr Obeng also commended Mr Edem Agbana, MP for Ketu North, for his commitment to education through the scholarship scheme, describing it as a demonstration of selfless leadership and dedication to youth development.
He advised young people to remain patient and continue supporting leadership initiatives, expressing confidence that sustained investment in education and collaboration would yield long-term dividends.
The event saw 400 students from public universities receive scholarships under the second phase of the programme initiated by Mr Agbana.
