Eleven Persons Remanded Over Alleged Land Guard Operations in Dansoman

Accra, Feb. 18,  – An Accra Circuit Court has ordered the remand of eleven individuals accused of engaging in land guard activities at Akokofoto in the Dansoman area of Accra.

The accused persons — Kamal Yussif, also known as Biker; Asafoatse Abass Seidu; Jacob Lartey alias Lartey Kwei; Adoku Samuel alias Asafoatse; Mohammed Issah alias Galadima; Emmanuel Nii Acquah alias Asafoatse; Iddrisu Akaya Chum; John Afade; Teiko Ofori; and Emmanuel Gyemfi Nkrumah — are facing charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, engaging in land guard activities and resisting arrest.

According to the prosecution, the accused allegedly obstructed police officers during an attempted arrest. In the course of the confrontation, Kamal Yussif is said to have struck Chief Inspector Isaac Mbilla in the mouth, causing injury to his teeth.

All eleven pleaded not guilty when they appeared before the court and have been remanded into police custody pending further investigations. They are expected to reappear on February 28, 2026.

Defence counsel applied for bail for the accused, but the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Jonas Lawer, opposed the request on grounds that investigations were still ongoing.

The court heard that the complainants in the case — Madam Sarah Forkuo, Managing Director of Osamanpa Estate Developers, and Mr John Agyepong, both residents of East Legon — had obtained a ruling from the Supreme Court granting them possession of the disputed land.

Prosecution alleged that on February 16, 2026, the accused persons unlawfully entered the property armed with sticks, cutlasses and firearms, and prevented the complainants and their workers from carrying out development activities.

A distress call was reportedly placed to the Police Headquarters, prompting officers to respond swiftly to the scene. The accused were arrested after allegedly resisting the officers and were subsequently transferred to the Regional Police Headquarters to assist with investigations.
