Accra, Jan.15, - Yusif Abubakar,
head coach of Aduana Stars football club, has expressed dissatisfaction in
officiating following their 2-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the last match of
the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) G-8 Tournament.
The Dormaa based side suffered
their first defeat in Group A of the tournament at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium
on Sunday.
Speaking to the press after the
game, coach Abubakar said referee made many questionable calls which affected
the beauty of the game.
According to the coach, a good
officiating could have perhaps changed the results.
"We played a very high
temperamental game with questionable officiating. The referee's performance
affected both sides, not only Aduana.
"I don't want to take
anything away from Kotoko but I think some of the referee's decisions affected
the result and the beauty of the game." Coach Abubakar Said
The head Coach of the 2016/2017
Ghana Premier League champions added that Kotoko were not really better than
his side as the scoreline may depict.
He said Aduana Stars would be
stronger in the semi finals despite defeat against Kotoko.
"Kotoko were not better than
us even when we were a man down. They were just determined to win the game and
qualify to the next round.
"We should have controlled
the tempo of the game, especially in the first half perhaps we could have
won.We have lost and we have to go and prepare stronger for the semi
finals". Said Yusif Abubakar
Aduana Stars have qualified to
the semi finals of the 2018 Ghalca G8 Tournament after emerging as leaders of
Group A.
