Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak have qualified to the semi-final of the ongoing
G-8 tournament after victories in their last group matches in Kumasi and Cape
Coast Sports Stadium respectively.
The G-8 tournament, which is
being used as a rehearsal for the upcoming Ghana Premier League (GPL), saw
kotoko beating Aduana Stars by 2:0 with a first half goal from Eric Donkor and
an 89th minute goal from Kwame Boahene to seal a semi-final berth for the
porcupine warriors.
Hearts of Oak in a 5 goal
thriller beat Ebusua Dwarfs by 3:2 at the Cape Coast stadium to book a slot at
the semis with a goal from Christopher Bonney, and a brace from Richard Zuma
for Accra Hearts of Oak and one goal each from Stephen Bentil and Joseph Esso
for Ebusua Dwarfs.
Both Kotoko and Hearts of Oak
needed a win to advance to the next stage of the 8 clubs tournament after they
lost their second games to Dreams FC and Medeama SC respectively in Kumasi and
Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Kotoko who would be representing
Ghana in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup after
winning the MTN FA Cup last year topped Group A with 7 points after 3 games as
Hearts of Oak placed second in Group B with 6 points from 3 games.
