Kete-Krachi, March 29, – Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called for deeper collaboration between government and traditional authorities to accelerate development at the local level.
She said effective partnerships between the State and chieftaincy institutions were essential for driving inclusive growth and strengthening community transformation across the country.
The Vice President made the call at the 25th anniversary of the enstoolment of Nana Mprah Besemuna III, Krachiwura, held under the theme: “25 Years of Transformational Leadership: A Call to Revive Our Heritage and Rebuild Our Alliances.”
She described traditional leaders as critical partners in governance, noting that stable and well-functioning traditional institutions provided a strong foundation for sustainable development.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang commended the Krachiwura for his leadership, particularly in promoting peace, unity, and socio-economic progress in the Krachi Traditional Area.
She reaffirmed government’s commitment to decentralisation, stressing that empowering local governance systems would enhance development planning and improve service delivery at the grassroots.
The Vice President also urged the youth to tap into emerging opportunities under the proposed 24-hour economy policy, especially to stimulate growth and innovation in the Oti Region.
In response, Nana Mprah Besemuna III expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing development in the area, with emphasis on infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment.
The colourful durbar brought together chiefs, opinion leaders, government officials, and residents, while showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Krachi people.
