Robbery Suspect Dies After Leaping from Moving Police Vehicle

Accra, March 29, – A 30-year-old robbery suspect, Mumim Kresi, has died after jumping from a moving police vehicle while attempting to escape custody in the Savannah Region.

Police said Kresi was arrested on March 23, 2026, at Daboya following an intelligence-led operation. He had confessed to involvement in a robbery and revealed the locations of two pistols—one at his Yerezori residence and another with an accomplice identified as Berra, who also had stolen money and mobile phones.

At about 0340 hours while being escorted to his residence to retrieve a weapon, Kresi suddenly jumped from the moving police vehicle between Larabanga and Mognori. He fell, became unconscious, and was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Ann’s Hospital in Damongo. His body has been preserved for autopsy.

Police investigations revealed that Berra may have removed items from Kresi’s residence the night before. Authorities are actively seeking the accomplice and the remaining exhibits.
