Police Nab 11 Nigerians in Tamale Anti-Drug, Cybercrime Crackdown


Tamale, April 01, – The Northern Regional Special Operations Team of the Ghana Police Service has arrested 11 Nigerian nationals in an intelligence-led operation targeting drug trafficking and internet fraud in the Tamale Metropolis.

The operation, conducted on March 30, 2026, at about 1800 hours, was led by Chief Inspector Abu Issahaku with a team of 35 personnel.

The exercise commenced at Yung, where one suspect, Mohammed Hudu, 28, was arrested with two sachets of 250mg Tramadol.

Acting on further intelligence, the team proceeded to Wamale, where 10 additional suspects were apprehended for their alleged involvement in cybercrime activities.

They were identified as Benjamin Ahmed (29), Michael Monday (25), Frank Chinadu (25), Emmanuel Chukwuong (25), Renew Onochie (25), Francis Asisi (25), Owen Umoh (29), Shadrack John (22), Okolie James (27), and Purity Madubunachukwu (17).

A search conducted at their premises led to the retrieval of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, two sachets of 225mg Tramadol, nine laptop computers, three SIM cards, and 11 mobile phones.

All the suspects are currently in custody at the Northern Regional Police Headquarters assisting with investigations.
