Police Await Autopsy After Exhuming Trader Allegedly Killed by ‘Fetish Priest’

Accra, March 25, – Police have exhumed body parts believed to be those of a trader allegedly murdered by a fetish priest at Awutu Bentum, as investigations continue.

The remains have been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue pending autopsy, which prosecutors say will be critical to the case.

Inspector Sandra Amarkye told the Adabraka District Court that the Police were awaiting the pathologist’s report to advance investigations.

The accused, Xorlali Alortusah, 25, has been charged with murder and remanded in custody until April 16, 2026. His plea is yet to be taken.

Prosecution said the victim, Joyce Akua Ampomaa, 40, had sought herbal and spiritual assistance from the accused on separate occasions.

On March 4, 2026, he allegedly lured her to his farm under the pretext of collecting herbs, where he attacked her with a cutlass, killed her, and dismembered the body.

The remains were discovered on March 10 by community members near the accused’s farm and reported to Police.

Investigators later arrested the suspect, who allegedly admitted the offence.
