“My gratitude tour is not political strategy” – Asiedu Nketia

Lambussie (UWR), April 22, – National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has dismissed suggestions that his ongoing nationwide “thank you tour” is a calculated move toward a future presidential ambition, insisting it is purely an act of gratitude.

He explained that the tour was designed to appreciate party supporters, traditional leaders and constituents for their contribution to the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections.

Addressing residents during a visit to Lambussie, Mr Nketia said the initiative was consistent with a promise he made during the campaign to return and thank communities after electoral success.

He questioned criticisms surrounding the tour, noting that his role in previous campaign activities had not attracted similar objections.

“People did not criticise me when I was campaigning across the country, so it is surprising that thanking those same people is now being questioned,” he said.

He maintained that the “thank you tour” was a continuation of the party’s tradition of appreciation and solidarity, stressing that the 2024 victory was a collective effort requiring continued unity within the party.

Mr Nketia further argued that expressing gratitude after receiving support was a matter of principle and political culture, adding that he would continue the tour despite differing opinions.

At Bullu in the Sissala West Constituency, he assured residents that the NDC government remained committed to delivering development projects and improving livelihoods.

Traditional authorities, including Kuoro Abdul-Rahaman Kassim Baatah IV, commended the initiative, while stressing the importance of agricultural investment in driving regional development.

The Sissala West District Chief Executive, Mr Abudu Gbene Fuseini, highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in the district, while Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister for Communications, Technology and Digital Innovations, Mr Mohammed Adams Sukparu, reaffirmed government’s commitment to development and unity.

He urged residents and party supporters to remain patient as efforts continue to expand job opportunities and public sector interventions.

The District Chief Executive for Lambussie, Mr Naawulle Ireneous Basingbie, also appealed for the completion of the Agenda 111 hospital project to strengthen healthcare delivery in the area.

As part of the visit, Mr Nketia commissioned a new FM station and a party office in the district, noting that the radio station would improve access to local information for residents.
