LATE STRIKE SEALS TITLE GLORY FOR AMPEM DARKOA LADIES IN WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE FINAL

Swedru (C/R), April 19,  – Ampem Darkoa Ladies staged a strong comeback to defeat Hasaacas Ladies 2-1 and clinch the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title in a pulsating final at the Swedru Stadium.

Ampem Darkoa began the match with high intensity, dominating possession and creating early chances, with Mariam Olawumi coming close to opening the scoring in the opening minutes, only to be denied by a sharp save and a goal-line clearance.

Despite their early dominance, Hasaacas Ladies grew into the game and threatened on the counter, but goalkeeper Latifa Abesik produced a crucial save to keep the scoreline level.

Against the run of play, Hasaacas Ladies took the lead in the 38th minute when Abiba Issah unleashed a long-range effort that beat the goalkeeper to give her side a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

Ampem Darkoa returned from the break with renewed purpose and found the equaliser in the 57th minute through Priscilla Okyere, who finished calmly to bring her side back into contention.

The game became increasingly competitive as both teams searched for the winning goal, but Ampem Darkoa maintained the upper hand with sustained attacking pressure.

Their persistence paid off in the 83rd minute when Gloria Adomako found the back of the net to complete the turnaround and put her side ahead.

Ampem Darkoa continued to press in the closing stages but were unable to add to their tally, as Hasaacas Ladies fought to get back into the match.

The final whistle confirmed Ampem Darkoa Ladies as champions, sealing a hard-fought 2-1 victory and capping a determined performance.
