Accra, April 21, – Asante Kotoko have announced the resignation of interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu, who has stepped down from his position with immediate effect.
The club disclosed in a statement signed by Communications Director Sarfo Duku that the coach made the decision voluntarily, stressing that it was in the best interest of the team.
Owusu, who was appointed only a few months ago after Abdul Karim Zito’s departure, said he believed his exit would help maintain stability within the club as it navigates recent challenges.
Kotoko management thanked him for his service during his brief spell in charge, describing his commitment and professionalism as commendable, and wished him well in his future career.
The statement further indicated that the coach, in his resignation letter, emphasised that stepping aside was necessary for the good of the club.
Youth team coach Hamza Obeng has since been named interim head coach and will take charge for the rest of the season while the club considers further technical adjustments.
Kotoko’s recent form has dipped, with the team winless in their last three league outings, including two defeats.
The Porcupine Warriors currently occupy sixth place on the league table, 10 points behind leaders Medeama SC.
