The group said the remarks, which have gained traction on social media, were unfortunate and had the potential to create divisions within the Eastern Region.
Speaking at a press briefing in Somanya, Mr John Atteh Matey, Lower Manya Krobo Constituency Chairman and Municipal Chief Executive, said the comments undermined the authority of the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, and could weaken public confidence in governance structures.
He maintained that public office holders were mandated to serve all citizens regardless of their ethnic origin, stressing that Ghana’s constitutional framework did not support exclusionary narratives.
Mr Matey noted that the Eastern Region remained a diverse and interconnected space, where various ethnic groups had coexisted over time, and cautioned against statements that could disrupt that balance.
The group further warned that such pronouncements, if left unchecked, could erode trust and strain relations between communities, particularly between Krobo and New Juaben areas.
They, therefore, urged Mr Baafi to retract the comments and issue an unqualified apology to the Regional Minister and affected communities to help restore public confidence.
The Krobo NDC also called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to respond to the issue, emphasising the need for political actors to promote unity and responsible communication.
They concluded by urging stakeholders to prioritise peaceful coexistence and avoid rhetoric that could inflame tensions within the region.
