Accra, April 20, – The government is set to revive the Made-in-Ghana Fair as part of efforts to promote local beverage production and increase the visibility of Ghanaian brands on domestic and international markets.
The initiative is expected to strengthen local manufacturing, expand market access, and deepen the competitiveness of Ghana’s beverage industry.
Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, made the announcement on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at the 10th Ghana Beverage Awards held in Accra under the theme “A Toast to Ten.”
She said the fair would serve as a platform to showcase locally produced beverages while enhancing brand recognition and supporting industry growth.
According to her, the beverage sector remains a key pillar of the economy, with strong linkages to agriculture, manufacturing, retail and hospitality.
“This industry plays a vital role in Ghana’s economic development, creating jobs and supporting livelihoods,” she said.
Mrs Ofosu-Agyare reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening the sector, noting its resilience and growth potential.
She indicated that programmes such as “Feed the Industry” are aimed at improving linkages between local agricultural production and beverage manufacturing.
She also disclosed that government is considering an Agribusiness Policy to support value addition and create an enabling environment for business expansion.
Mr Ernest Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance, encouraged industry players to embrace emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
He noted that AI could help businesses predict consumer demand, enhance product quality, and optimise operations.
According to him, technology adoption would be critical in helping companies stay ahead of market trends and respond effectively to changing consumer preferences.
