Fumbisi (U/E), April 8, – The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has cut sod for a series of education infrastructure projects in the Builsa South District valued at over GH¢41 million.
The projects, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), are aimed at easing classroom congestion, improving school infrastructure and creating a more conducive learning environment across the district.
The package includes a two-storey office complex for the Education Directorate in Fumbisi, boys’ and girls’ dormitory blocks, and a three-bedroom bungalow for the headmaster of Kanjarga Senior High School.
At the basic level, the initiative will deliver a six-unit classroom block at Nadema-Luisa, additional three-unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities at Bachonsa and Kanjarga-Nyansa, as well as a kindergarten block at Zamsa.
Dr Apaak, who is also the Member of Parliament for the area, said the projects reflect government’s commitment to strengthening education delivery and improving learning outcomes.
“These projects underscore a deep commitment to transforming lives and building a stronger future through quality education,” he said during the site handover ceremony.
He also announced the procurement of more than 400 desks to be distributed to schools in the district to address furniture shortages.
The projects are expected to be completed within 12 months and are projected to significantly reduce infrastructure deficits in the area.
The District Chief Executive, Madam Anne Musah, appealed to traditional authorities and landowners to facilitate access to land for development projects, noting that delays in land acquisition often hindered progress.
She stressed the need for stronger collaboration between stakeholders to accelerate development and improve livelihoods in the district.
The District Director of the Ghana Education Service, Mr Richard Akum-Nyemi, commended the initiative, describing it as a major boost to teaching and learning in the district.
