GFA Sacks Otto Addo After Friendly Losses; Fans React Mixedly

Accra/Kadjebi, March 31, – The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has parted ways with Black Stars coach Otto Addo following consecutive friendly defeats, sparking mixed reactions among fans in Kadjebi, Oti Region.

GFA Statement
GFA expressed gratitude for Addo's contributions—reappointed March 2024 after his 2022 stint—and securing 2026 World Cup qualification, though missing 2025 AFCON. "The GFA will communicate the new technical direction soon," the statement read, with FIFA's May 30 squad deadline looming.

Addo's second tenure ended after a 5-1 Australia loss and 2-1 Germany defeat on March 30.

Kadjebi Fan Reactions
Ms. Margaret Ofori called the sacking "long overdue," criticizing football politicization. Mr. Evans Ghansah supported it but questioned timing with two months to the FIFA tournament. Mr. Mawuli Gavu insisted Addo should have been sacked post-AFCON failure, urging an expatriate replacement.

Mr. Medar Mensah Avorgbedor praised the move, reminiscing about Stephen Appiah's era and demanding merit-based local player selection over politics.
