Dormaa Central MCE outlines plans to upgrade Duasidan Monkey Sanctuary

Duasidan (Bono), April 22, – The Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly is set to upgrade facilities at the Duasidan Monkey Sanctuary as part of efforts to promote eco-tourism and local economic development.

Mr Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, the Municipal Chief Executive, said the Assembly would soon begin work on key projects, including a restaurant, a canopy walkway and a guest house to improve visitor experience at the site.

He disclosed this at a forum under the “Accounting to the People” series held at Duasidan during a visit by Mr Joseph Akwaboa, Bono Regional Minister, to the Municipality.

Mr Ameyaw said the planned developments were aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and overall appeal of the sanctuary to attract more tourists.

He commended the chief and residents of the community for allocating land for the construction of waste management facilities, including four pits for liquid and solid waste.

He added that a road linking the community to the sanctuary had been constructed to improve accessibility.

The MCE further indicated that the Assembly intended to establish a recycling plant to process solid waste, which he said could provide employment opportunities for the youth.

He noted that the community would also benefit from a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound and staff accommodation to improve access to healthcare.

Mr Ameyaw said the projects reflected the Assembly’s commitment to accelerating development within the municipality.

Nana Oppong Kyekyeku, Chief of Duasidan, pledged the community’s support towards the implementation of the projects.
