Ada, March 27, – Naana Lomoki Lomo I, Queen of the Lomobiawe Clan and Vice President of the Ada Queenmothers Consortium, has urged girls not to let unplanned pregnancies or life’s challenges hinder their education and personal development.
Speaking at the Daring Women Summit 2026 in Ada, organised by the Tapioca Foundation under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action for all Women and Girls”, she emphasised that education should remain a priority despite obstacles.
“Even a pregnancy you have not planned for should not become a barrier to your progress,” she said, sharing her personal experience of continuing her education while raising her children, who are also in school.
The Queen Mother encouraged girls to prioritise long-term opportunities over short-term financial assistance. “If you seek support to further your education, acquire a skill, or secure a job, it will benefit you for life,” she explained.
She also called on parents to build trusting relationships with their children, stressing that open communication and guidance are more effective than public scolding or punishment.
“Any parent who abandons a child in such a situation is not helping. Encourage them, support them, and guide them to try again,” she added.
Naana Lomoki Lomo I further urged parents who lack resources to seek support from traditional leaders, queen mothers, or public institutions to help promote the development of the girl child.
