Kumasi, March 27, – Nana Boakye Amponsah Okofroban III, Chief of Parkoso near Kumasi, has officially confirmed the destoolment of Mr Victor Kofi Owusu Boahene, popularly known as Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, from his position as the family head of the royal Ekuona family of Parkoso.
In a press statement, Nana Okofroban III informed the public that the Ekuona family of Parkoso carried out the customary removal of Mr Boahene on March 11, 2026, and appointed an acting family head in his stead.
The chief introduced Mr Jones Kennedy Brefo as the newly appointed family head and urged the community to accord him the respect due to his new role.
The statement aims to dispel any doubts regarding Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu’s destoolment, which followed prolonged disputes within the family and multiple court cases. These controversies arose after the death of Mr Charles Kwadwo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba, the iconic highlife musician who passed away in late 2025.
The Ekuona family’s decision marks a new chapter in the leadership of the Parkoso royal household.
