Traders Appeal to President over Destruction of Eggs in Burkina Faso

Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), March 19, – Traders in the Dormaa Municipality have called on President John Dramani Mahama to investigate the destruction of thousands of crates of eggs valued at over GHC10 million that were exported to Burkina Faso.

The appeal was made by Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, during the President’s visit as part of his Reset Ghana Tour in the Bono Region.

Key points raised:

The eggs were exported via Paga, in the Upper East Region, but were seized and destroyed upon entry into Burkina Faso for unknown reasons.
The incident has negatively impacted the poultry trade in Dormaa-Ahenkro, which serves as a major hub for the region’s poultry sector and local livelihoods.
The Paramount Chief urged the Government to investigate the circumstances surrounding the destruction and ensure justice for affected traders.

During the visit, President Mahama was also at Dormaa-Ahenkro to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for a model 24-hour market at the Dormaa Tuesday Market, aimed at boosting trade and local economic activity.
