Teacher calls for counselling support after Tema daycare crash incident

Tema, March 17, – A teacher at the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) Daycare Centre has appealed for urgent psychological support for pupils and staff following the recent microlight aircraft crash on the school premises.

Ms Esther Kwofie said the incident occurred while some children were doing their homework and others were asleep, creating panic among both pupils and teachers.

She explained that staff had to manage their own fear while ensuring the safety of the children during the emergency.

Recounting the घटना, she said part of a classroom roof was dislodged and nearly struck a sleeping child, who fortunately escaped unharmed.

The near-miss, she noted, had left a deep emotional impact, with many pupils reportedly unable to speak freely after returning home due to shock.

Ms Kwofie expressed gratitude that no child was injured and commended residents for their swift response in attempting to control the fire before personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived.

She stressed the need for professional counselling services to help both pupils and teachers recover from the traumatic experience and restore a sense of safety within the school environment.
