Accra, March 25, – An Accra Circuit Court has convicted a 35-year-old spiritualist for defrauding a man of GH¢95,100 under the pretext of securing a chieftaincy title.
Nana Adwoa Yamoah pleaded guilty to all charges, including operating without registration and practising without a licence.
The presiding judge, Mr Dennis Eyram Fumey, convicted her on her own plea and ordered a pregnancy test before sentencing.
The case has been adjourned to March 26, 2026, for sentencing, while the convict remains in Police custody.
Prosecution said the complainant was persuaded that Yamoah could facilitate his installation as chief and even claimed links to the Asantehene.
She reportedly took additional funds under the guise of doubling money and later convinced the complainant to travel with her to Benin for spiritual rituals, which never took place.
Following failed promises and refusal to refund the money, the matter was reported to Police, leading to her arrest.
Investigations also revealed she was not licensed by the Traditional Medicine Practice Council and had allegedly defrauded others using similar methods.
