Police Update on Duku Syndicate Robbery in Kumasi

Kumasi, March 18, – Patricia Osei Boateng, also known as Boatema, has been remanded into police custody for the second time by the Asokwa Circuit Court One over her alleged involvement in a robbery case.

Boateng faces charges of abetment of robbery and is scheduled to reappear in court on March 24, 2026 as investigations continue. At the March 17 hearing, her lawyer, Mr Richard Acquah, requested bail, but the prosecution opposed it. Trial Judge Fred Obikyere did not take a plea and remanded her into lawful custody.

Earlier, on March 11, 2026, key suspects Kojo Amposah and Emmanuel Kwame Appiah were also remanded by the same court to reappear on March 26, 2026 for robbery charges.

Another syndicate member, Bashiru Tanko, remains in custody as investigations continue into multiple offences, including car snatching and robbery.

The arrests followed a major police operation that dismantled a carjacking syndicate operating in the Ashanti Region and parts of Tarkwa. The probe was triggered by the fatal shooting of Mr Andrews Amankwaa during a robbery at Ohwim Amanfrom on February 10, 2026. His Toyota Hilux (GN 6647-25) was stolen during the attack, and he later died while receiving hospital treatment.

The Ghana Police Service said it would continue providing updates as the investigation progresses.
