Ho, March 27, – The Volta Regional Police Command has issued a clarification regarding a viral video circulating on social media about a suspected narcotic drug seizure in the region.
The Command said the footage being shared online did not accurately depict the actual police operation connected to the suspected drugs.
In a press statement signed by Chief Inspector Francis Gomado, Head of the Public Affairs Unit in Ho, the Police explained that the operation was based on intelligence received on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at about 1830 hours.
The statement said the intelligence indicated that some unidentified individuals had offloaded sacks believed to contain narcotic substances in a forest area near Ahunda in the Adaklu District.
It said officers from the Drug Law Enforcement Unit were dispatched to the location and arrived at about 2100 hours, where they found 39 sacks of dried plant material suspected to be narcotic drugs hidden in the bush.
According to the Police, the items were retrieved and conveyed to the station using a Police transfer truck and a Nissan pickup to secure the exhibits for further action.
The Command said the suspected narcotic substances were currently in Police custody awaiting forensic analysis and further investigation to determine their composition and origin.
The statement urged the public to disregard the viral video, insisting that it did not represent the true circumstances of the operation.
The Police also reaffirmed their resolve to continue intensifying operations against drug trafficking and other related crimes in the region and appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile, some members of the public have expressed concern about the source, ownership, and intended destination of the suspected consignment and have called on the Police to provide further updates as investigations progress.
