Pakyi joint operation nets 28 foreign nationals and a landlord

Pakyi No. 2 (Ash), March 16,— A coordinated operation involving the Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Police Service, and the Amansie West District Assembly has led to the arrest of 28 foreign nationals and one landlord in Pakyi Numbers One and Two, Ashanti Region.

The crackdown targeted foreigners residing in the communities without proper documentation, following intelligence reports received by the authorities.

The detained individuals are now undergoing verification of their immigration status and further investigations to determine any links to unlawful activities.

Mr. Prince Manu Morris, the Amansie West District Chief Executive, cautioned landlords to ensure that tenants possess valid legal documents before renting properties, noting that failure to do so constitutes a breach of Ghanaian immigration laws.

“It is illegal to provide accommodation to persons whose stay in the country is not properly documented. Landlords must confirm the legal status of tenants,” he stressed.

Residents were also urged to report any cases of undocumented foreigners to the District Assembly or security agencies promptly. Mr. Morris warned that anyone assisting undocumented migrants would face legal action.

The DCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to partnering with security agencies to enforce immigration laws, maintain public safety, and ensure proper regulation of foreign nationals living in the district.

The suspects remain in custody under the Ghana Immigration Service, with legal proceedings to follow in line with national law.
