Accra, March 24, – The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has stated that the contractor handling the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam project has not received any payment for work completed, contradicting earlier claims of a US$11.9 million disbursement.
Addressing the Government Assurances Committee of Parliament on Tuesday, Mr. Jinapor said, “Preliminary investigations indicate that no financial payment has been made to the contractor.”
He added that the matter has now been referred to the Attorney General for further investigation and potential prosecution, noting that the contractor has since left Ghana. “The contractor’s departure complicates the resolution, but the Attorney General is well-positioned to manage the issue,” he explained.
The Pwalugu Dam project, designed to provide irrigation, flood control, and hydroelectric power in northern Ghana, has been marred by delays and controversies concerning procurement, funding, and project execution.
