Manhyia South MP Launches Inaugural ‘Soloku’ Festival in Kumasi

Kumasi, March 24, – Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has officially launched the maiden edition of the ‘Soloku’ festival, a cultural and community initiative aimed at fostering social cohesion, celebrating local heritage, and boosting economic activities within the constituency.

The launch ceremony at Krofrom drew residents, youth groups, community leaders, and key stakeholders, marking the beginning of what organizers hope will become an annual flagship event.

The festival is designed to unite residents across social, ethnic, and political divides while promoting cultural identity and creativity. Speaking at the event, Mr. Awuah emphasized that unity is central to sustainable development and that the festival offers both entertainment and strategic economic benefits.

Activities include a cooking competition, tug of war, table tennis, and cards tournaments, providing opportunities for residents—particularly women and local artisans—to showcase talents, products, and services. Winners across categories will receive exciting prizes.

Mr. Awuah noted that the festival also preserves traditional practices, promotes indigenous arts, and instills pride among youth, aligning with his broader vision of combining culture, innovation, and economic empowerment for constituents.

The event is open to the public, promising a vibrant, inclusive, and engaging community experience.
