Kumasi, March 04, – Two individuals attempting to rob the home of a Court of Appeal judge in Kumasi have been apprehended by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
The suspects, 23-year-old Patrick Alor and 21-year-old Akwasi Gyamfi, both sustained gunshot injuries during the operation and are currently receiving treatment at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) under police supervision.
A statement issued in Kumasi by DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, credited the alertness and bravery of the judge’s police bodyguard for preventing the robbery.
According to preliminary investigations, on March 03, 2026, around 11:30 p.m., the suspects climbed the fence of the judge’s residence armed with cutlasses and scissors and attempted to forcibly open the judge’s private car.
The bodyguard on duty spotted the intruders and, while attempting to arrest them, the suspects tried to disarm him. Acting in self-defense and following police operational procedures, the officer fired his weapon, injuring the suspects—one in the left leg and the other in the right.
The wounded suspects were promptly transported to KATH, where they are under medical care and police guard.
The Ashanti Regional Command praised the professionalism and quick action of the bodyguard, noting that his intervention prevented what could have been a serious incident.
Police reiterated their commitment to safeguarding members of the judiciary and the general public, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to nearby stations.
