Gov’t Takes Over 23 Abandoned Road Projects Worth GH¢14.88bn

Accra, March 24, – Roads and Highways Minister Mr Governs Kwame Agbodza has disclosed that the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme absorbed 23 road projects valued at GH¢14.88 billion, previously abandoned due to funding challenges.

Speaking in Parliament, Mr Agbodza said the inherited projects, including the Suame Interchange, Takoradi–Agona dualization, and Kasoa–Winneba expansion, were novated with new funding to accelerate delivery.

He explained that the Big Push programme features 12 major economic corridors divided into 54 lots to encourage competition. Sole sourcing is being used in some ongoing projects to ensure timely completion, a practice he said is globally acceptable.
