Accra, Feb. 27, – The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) met Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams to share its 2025–2029 strategic plan, targeting sustainable success for the Youth Olympics, 2026 Commonwealth Games, and 2027 All Africa Games.
GOC President Richard Akpokavie stressed shifting from event-focused to process-driven sports. “This is our promise: data-driven athlete growth and enduring excellence,” he said, handing over the document.
Chefs de Mission Ernest Danso (Glasgow) and Evans Yeboah (Dakar) updated on Team Ghana logistics and fundraising.
Minister Adams called for long-term investments over rushed funding. “Sports isn’t leisure—it’s an economic driver, boosting Ghana’s brand as AI displaces jobs.”
He announced the Ghana Sports Fund, soon boosted by a National Lottery Authority tie-up for infrastructure and welfare—easing treasury burdens.
Govt pledges full Team Ghana support but wants GOC transparency, nationwide campaigns for sponsorship, and ethical cedi use.
