Ghana’s Economy Expands 5.8% in Q4 2025 – GSS



Accra, March 17, – The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has reported that Ghana’s economy grew by 5.8 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2025, up from 4.0 per cent in the same quarter of 2024.

The agency indicated that real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached GH¢56.4 billion in Q4 2025, compared with GH¢53.3 billion in Q4 2024.

“Agriculture recorded 5.3 per cent growth in Q4 2025, driven largely by crops, including cocoa which returned to positive performance,” said Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, Government Statistician. “The sector contributed 21 per cent to overall GDP growth and made up 20 per cent of total GDP.”

The industry sector grew by 1.9 per cent, an improvement from 0.3 per cent the previous year, despite a 15.6 per cent decline in oil and gas production. Dr. Iddrisu noted that manufacturing and electricity helped sustain industrial output, with the sector contributing 9.4 per cent to GDP growth and 29.6 per cent to total GDP.

The services sector remained the largest driver, expanding 8.6 per cent, up from 6.9 per cent in Q4 2024. It accounted for 63.4 per cent of GDP growth and 50.6 per cent of the country’s GDP.

Leading sub-sectors contributing to growth included Information & Communication (28.3%), Public Administration, Defence & Social Security (11.8%), Education (11.3%), Transport & Storage (10.6%), and Electricity (7.2%).

On the other hand, the sub-sectors recording declines were Forestry & Logging (-10.4%), Accommodation & Food Services (-4.5%), Water Supply, Sewage & Waste (-4.0%), Real Estate (-2.0%), and Other Personal Service Activities (-2.0%).
