Four Ghanaian soldiers injured in missile attack in southern Lebanon – GAF

Accra, March 9,  – The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed that four Ghanaian soldiers serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were injured following a missile attack on the headquarters of the Ghanaian Battalion in southern Lebanon.

Three of the soldiers sustained minor injuries, while one was critically wounded.

A statement issued by the Department of Public Relations of the GAF in Accra and signed by Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director of Public Relations, said the critically injured soldier had successfully undergone surgery and was responding to treatment.

It added that all the injured personnel were currently in stable condition.

The statement said the attack also destroyed accommodation facilities for 14 officers, whose quarters were completely burnt during the incident.

According to the GAF, the affected officers have since been re-kitted, re-accommodated and provided with the necessary support.
