Accra Court Sentences 106 for Illegal Entry

Accra, March 21, – An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced 106 foreign nationals to prison terms for entering Ghana illegally.

55 persons were sentenced to 28 days’ imprisonment each
51 persons received four weeks’ imprisonment

All convicts pleaded guilty to charges of illegal entry. The court ordered that they be deported to their home countries after serving their sentences.

Case Background

The case first came before the court on October 25, 2025, with the accused entering guilty pleas on March 12, 2026.

Police investigations revealed that on October 7, 2025, intelligence reports indicated that over 100 foreign nationals were spotted around Kuntunse‑Satellite in Accra under unclear circumstances. Officers discovered the accused hiding in a house and found that they refused to provide real identities.

Further inquiries confirmed that the accused were nationals of neighbouring francophone countries who had entered Ghana between January and October 2025. None had legal documentation permitting residence or work, and they had failed to report to the nearest Immigration Office as required by law.

The court’s sentencing underscores the government’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and maintaining border security.
