Six Aggrey Memorial students arrested over attack on Adisadel final-year student

Accra, Feb. 25,  – Police in the Central Region have apprehended six students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School in connection with an alleged assault on a final-year student of Adisadel College during the ongoing inter-colleges sports festival in Cape Coast.

According to a Police statement, the victim, Master Rexford Owusu-Ansah, sustained a fracture near his right eye following the attack at Pedu Junction on Friday, February 20, 2026.

The incident reportedly occurred as the victim and two colleagues were returning to campus from the Cape Coast Stadium. They were allegedly confronted by a group of Aggrey Memorial students who questioned their school affiliation and subsequently attacked them.

While the victim’s companions managed to flee, he was overpowered, knocked to the ground and beaten. His iPhone 17 Pro Max, an amount of about GH¢1,400.00 described as pocket money, and his shoes were reportedly taken during the assault.

Bystanders rushed him to the stadium clinic before he was referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged on Sunday, February 22. A medical report confirmed a fractured bone around his right eye, which left him unable to open it.

The six suspects, all minors, were later handed over to the Kotokuraba Police Station by school authorities at about 1930 hours on the day of the incident. Police say they are assisting with investigations and will be processed in accordance with the law.

The Central Regional Police Command has condemned the attack and assured the public that the matter will be handled thoroughly to ensure accountability.
