Berekum (Bono), Feb. 18, – A night security guard at Berekum Senior High School (BESS) has appealed to the police to expedite investigations into an alleged assault by a group of students.
Mr Kwame Ernest, the victim, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Berekum that the incident occurred on the night of Wednesday, February 11, during activities linked to an inter-school football match.
According to him, about eight students confronted him over his strict enforcement of school regulations, particularly his refusal to allow students to leave the campus during night hours.
He alleged that the students, who were wearing face masks, attacked him without provocation, beating him with pieces of wood and other objects until he lost consciousness.
“I only realised later that I was on admission at the hospital,” Mr Ernest recounted in a weak voice.
He was subsequently admitted to the Holy Family Catholic Hospital for medical treatment.
Mr Ernest said he was able to identify some of the alleged attackers and urged the police to act swiftly to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
He added that officials of the school, including the headmaster, visited him at the hospital following the incident.
Police investigations are ongoing.
