Government fixes GH¢12.00 minimum producer price for raw cashew nuts

Accra, Dec. 16,  – The Government has approved GH¢12.00 per kilogram as the Minimum Producer Price for raw cashew nuts for the 2025/2026 crop season.

The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) announced this in a statement, noting that the decision followed a stakeholder consultation held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Techiman in the Bono East Region.

The Authority said the price-setting exercise was conducted in line with the Tree Crops Development Authority Act, 2019 (Act 1010), and the Tree Crops Regulations, L.I. 2471 (2023).

According to the TCDA, the engagement brought together key actors in the raw cashew nuts value chain, including farmers, aggregators, traders, exporters and processors, to deliberate on and agree on the pricing structure for the season.

It explained that the pricing framework was informed by a prevailing free-on-board (FOB) price of US$1,400 per metric tonne, based on 48 KOR/180 nut count, a six-month average exchange rate of GH¢11.0241, and applicable statutory and operational costs.

Using those parameters, the Authority said an indicative price of GH¢11.157 per kilogram was derived. However, stakeholders unanimously opted for a rounded and simplified price of GH¢12.00 per kilogram, which subsequently received Government approval.

The TCDA noted that the Minimum Producer Price would be reviewed from time to time, depending on movements in critical market indicators, and expressed appreciation to all value chain participants for their collaboration and commitment to strengthening the cashew industry.
